最后一班车
After a long evening class, Amir gets on the last bus home. Most seats are full. Near the back, a woman has a large cloth bag on the seat beside her. Amir is tired and thinks she is keeping too much space for herself.
上完漫长的晚课后,阿米尔坐上回家的末班车。大多数座位都满了。靠后的位置,一位女士把大布袋放在旁边的座位上。阿米尔很累,觉得她给自己占了太多空间。
一句询问
He walks over and asks, “Excuse me, is this seat free?” The woman quickly says yes. She lifts the bag carefully with both hands. Amir hears a small sound inside and looks surprised. “There are cups in it,” she explains.
他走过去问:“不好意思,这个座位有人吗?”女士马上说没有。她双手小心地提起袋子。阿米尔听见里面轻轻响了一声,露出惊讶的表情。“里面有杯子。”她解释。

The woman has just finished her first pottery course. She is taking her cups home, and she is worried about breaking them. Amir offers to help hold the bag while she sits more comfortably. They talk about their different evening classes.
女士刚结束第一门陶艺课,正把做的杯子带回家,担心弄碎。阿米尔提出帮她扶着袋子,让她坐得舒服些。两人聊起各自不同的晚课。
不一样的结尾
When Amir leaves the bus, the woman thanks him. He still feels tired, but no longer annoyed. A simple question has given him both a seat and a better understanding of a stranger.
阿米尔下车时,女士向他道谢。他仍然疲惫,却不再烦躁。一句简单的询问,让他既有了座位,也更理解了一位陌生人。
