给植物设提醒的人

Leo receives a small plant for his new flat. He has never kept a plant before, so he sets a phone reminder: “Water the plant every evening.” When the message appears, he fills a cup and pours water into the pot.

利奥收到一盆小植物，作为搬进新公寓的礼物。他以前没养过植物，于是在手机上设提醒：“每天晚上给植物浇水。”消息出现时，他就接满一杯水，倒进花盆里。

After several days, the soil is still wet. Leo's neighbour visits and asks about his routine. She does not give him another fixed timetable. Instead, she suggests checking the soil and reading the care card that came with the plant.

几天后，土壤还是湿的。邻居来访，问起他平时怎么照料。她没有再给一张固定时间表，而是建议他检查土壤，并读读随植物附带的养护卡。

Leo changes the message to “Check the plant.” Some evenings, he only moves it away from the cold window. On other evenings, he does nothing. He writes short notes about what he sees beside the reminder in his phone.

利奥把消息改成“检查植物”。有些晚上，他只是把它从冷窗边挪开；另一些晚上，他什么也不做。他在手机提醒旁记下简短的观察记录。

The reminder still helps Leo remember his plant. But it no longer tells him exactly what to do. He smiles when he sees a new leaf: his phone can send a message, but he must look carefully.

提醒仍然帮助利奥记得照看植物，但不再规定他具体做什么。看到一片新叶时，他笑了：手机能发消息，他自己却必须认真观察。
