修好一盏灯，也修好一种关系

When Sara carried her broken desk lamp into the neighborhood hall, she expected to hand it over and collect it later. Instead, a volunteer named Ben invited her to sit beside him. "We try to repair things together," he explained. "That way, you leave with more than a working object."

There was no pressure to guess the right answer.

Sara appreciated that they did not promise success with every item. The event was about sharing skills and making thoughtful decisions, rather than proving that throwing something away was always wrong.

By lunchtime, Sara's lamp worked again. She was pleased, but the most useful lesson was how to describe a problem clearly. Before leaving, she helped a new visitor fill in an information card. She could not repair his radio, but she could welcome him, listen, and make the first question easier to ask.
