Imagine applying to help organise a community reading programme. The notice asks for someone who can welcome visitors, keep simple records, and communicate schedule changes. Before writing, match each requirement with a real example from your experience. If this is a practice exercise, label invented examples as fictional rather than using them in a real application.

Compare “I am an outstanding communicator” with “I sent a revised time and meeting point to all participants and checked that newcomers had received it.” The second gives the reader evidence to assess. You do not need dramatic achievements or invented numbers. A modest action, described precisely and connected to the role, can be more useful than a large claim.

Finish with practical information the reader needs, such as relevant availability and a willingness to discuss the role. Avoid promising unrestricted availability if that is not true. Naming a training need can show accurate judgement: it distinguishes what you can already do from what you would need to learn before taking responsibility.
